BATON ROUGE- The State Mineral and Energy Board conducted its monthly meeting and lease sale Wednesday, July 11th in the LaBelle Room of the LaSalle Office Building in Baton Rouge. The Board collected $498,136. in bonuses in the July lease sale, making this the total collected for the start of the new Fiscal Year 12-13. 

 

At this month’s lease sale, the Board awarded 12 leases covering more than 1,534 acres, out of 28 nominated tracts covering more than 16,136 acres.

 

The Board sold leases in Allen, Avoyelles, Bossier, Caddo, Catahoula, Jefferson, Lafourche, Plaquemines, Terrebonne, and West Baton Rouge.

Where do you find out the lease terms... % royalty... lease bonus... broken down by parish... and specific locations?  thanks

JHH-- lease bonus easy to calculate 498,136/1543= $322.83 per net acres

Tuscaloosa Trend Sits On Top Of Poorest Neighbourhood For Decades - Yet No Royalties Ever Paid To The Community -- Why??

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
