Randy, I think prices for a lot things are heading higher fast. I know of a landowner that got 6 figures just for providing temporary access to an existing road and a 1 acre staging area leading to a pipeline ROW that wasn't on his property.

As the pace of drilling accelerates, the value of water should increase. Where multiple companies compete for limited approved water sources, the value may become greater than that of the shale under those ponds. LOL!

There are plenty of folks on this site that have sold water to the different operators in the area from their ponds. While driving around, I see water lines leading to a pump on the edge of a pond all the time. Lets help David out with his question about prices to sell water if possible. He also is a friend of mine and has surface water to sell.

I received a letter for some law firm about drilling or something in the San Miguel Creek field. I have land there and plan to start two ponds in the next few weeks. How do I find out who needs to buy water? One pond is going to be at least 30ft deep x100ft long.

Heck I don't even know what this letter is all about. I can't even find a topic about these letters on here.

bagger, as far as knowing who needs water, it's whoever is drilling. atleast one company i know of is actively seeking water in texas ,preparing for drilling operations later in the year. as far as i know, they will seek you out if you have a marketable supply of water.

bagger. The letters are pre-application notice letters for the formation of drilling & production units. We discuss them all the time as they are the first solid indication of "intent to develop" by an energy company. Units aren't wells but the process begun with this letter will probably lead to wells being drilled. Just because you received the letter doesn't mean that you are in the unit. The letters are also sent to all land/mineral owners of record within 1000' of the unit. If you wish to do business with the energy companies you need the services of an experienced Oil & Gas attorney. Even to sell water.

Who do I contact regarding selling pond water? There is a well being drilled by EOG within a 1/4 mile from my pond. Should I just call EOG or are there fracking companies to contact. Thanks in advance.

you could drive to the drilling site and speak to the "company man" about what contracter was handling water for them. he would probably give you the phone number.
