Yes...it isn't like the drillers are not being held to certain standards already...
What's that saying?...We are from the Federal Government, and we are here to help?
The folks doing the sutdy will focus on facts. How those facts are used internally, and portrayed externally, will depend a lot on which political party is in power. The study group itself does not have the power to make a new regulation, and any new regulation will need to go through rule making,
There have been several recent proposed rules in which the cost:benefits analysis IMHO was strongly skewed by underestimating the costs to industry to implement the rule, and overstate the health benefits.
More interesting right now IMHO is the ongoing battle between Range Resources and the EPA. I'll have to dig to see if anything is moving, but even though Range has been fairly clearly shown not to be at fault in the Parker County groundwater issue, EPA is still trying to enforce its order.
