Anadarko Petroleum Corp. has completed the GASRS 23-1 well that targeted Cretaceous Austin chalk in South Burr Ferry field, Vernon Parish, La.

The well’s initial test rate was 744 b/d of oil and 7.2 MMcfd of gas with 4,100 psi flowing tubing pressure on a 34/64-in. choke, said partner Swift Energy Co. It is the first of four to six wells in the area that are planned to be drilled this year.

Other operators are drilling and completing wells along the same trend that target Austin Chalk, Wilcox, and Tuscaloosa marine shale (OGJ Online, Dec. 9, 2011).

Skip, I looked in SONRIS Lite and found two wells listed as "GASRS 23-001."  One shows permit expired and the other says completed and is shown to be a gas well in Austin Chalk  ("AUS C RA SUH").  The serial number of the well is 244416 in Vernon Parish.    It does show 7.2 MMcfd, the same choke size and similar pressures.   Is that the well?

Yep.  Though listed as a gas well it also reported 744 bbl/d of 42 gravity condensate.

Yes, I did see the condensate.  And condensate is considered around here in the Barnett Shale to be more valuable than the gas.  i guess the question is gonna be did Anadarko get the long lateral right this time?  Or will it do the same thing as the other Andarko Austin Chalk wells have done?  Time will tell.

Left off the 5520 BWPD

It's something to watch but it's too early to know if it's a problem.  Let's see what the first few full months of production show.

Yeah the water could decline and allow more hydrocarbons to flow freely you never really know until you know,,,,,,,,you know?
