Does anybody have a detailed map of the AC overlaying the TMS in Point Coupee? I would like to see it in relation to my land.

Go to www.ameliaresources.com or www.tuscaloosatrend.blogspot.com   The TMS/Austin Chalk/Edeards Shelf Edge run across the upper Pointe Coupee and along the Mississippi River in what is known in Pointe Coupe Parish as Pointe Coupee area (west of New Roads towards Morganza).  I understand leases have been as far south and east of the LaCour #43 as much as 16 miles from the Spud site and over close to the new John J. Audubon bridge.  TMS is not mentioned much in Pointe Coupee, mostly Austin Chalk and Tuscaloosa Trend (the former above the TMS and the latter below the TMS).  It appears the TMS play is more in the Felicianas and north and east of Pointe Coupee Parish.

"The Turner Bayou project comprises approximately 80 square miles (50,000 acres) which have been imaged by a proprietary 3D seismic survey. Primary targets are the Austin Chalk formation at 15,300 feet and the Eagle Ford formation at 16,000 feet." -- from above link

The AC & EF (TMS) play boundary is described in the links supplied by William.  This area is characterized by high resistivity.  For PCP, this includes most of the parish except for the SW area.  The TMS is thought to be the source of hydrocarbons in the AC.  Hope this isn't totally redundant!

Sorry folks, wild Monday morning.  The above post should have read TMS is
known as one of the source rocks for the Tuscaloosa sands.  The Eagleford Shale is just below the base of the AC in the area of interest.
Is there any estimate as to how many barrels of oil/cubic feet of gas are present in the Austin Chalk of Louisiana?

Hi Daniel

Try looking here for info they have added an Austin Chalk area. http://www.ameliaresources.com/tuscaloosa-trend.htm

Thanks William

I have seen those maps and was looking for a more detailed map that shows the sections involved. I am 7000 feet south and west of Lacour 43 pbh.

You are definitely inside the area of interest for both AC & TMS.

has anybody ever heard of Labarre La?  its not much more than a crossroads just a short ways north of new roads.  the field is morganza.  i have a small interest in this area.  there have been several deep vertical tuscaloosa wells drilled there. chesapeake tried the austin chalk there a few years ago with little success.  would this be a target area again with the new technology, and could the old well holes be re-used?

Yes.  You are in the area of interest.
thanks for the quick response,  can the old AC wells be re entered?  and would they be oil or gas plays?.... thx aa
Yes.  Oil is primary target but oil/gas can both be present.
sorry, last question,  what about the tusc wells?,  is there a possibilty that they could be re-completed as AC wells that produce from the AC and tusc at the same time?
