There was one 2 acre tract in St. Helena/E. Feliciana (probably the Amite River bottoms) that was bid on and accepted. The Bonus price was $1001.00 per acre with 25% royalty. the bid was by Carla Petroleum, Inc.

Additionally; There were 4 tracts that were bid on in Avoyelles Parish by Anadatko. The total acreage was 156 acres. The lease Bonus was $226.51 per acre with 22.5% royalty.

Could the Avoyelles Parish area be the Atchafalaya River?

No, its adjudicated property. Its property owned by the Parish that went to them because someone did not pay their property tax. Or couldn't.

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
