There at least 3 seismic surveys in the area, Caddo, Desoto, Bossure and Red River and we all wonder why.
If your attorney advises you NOT to participate in the biggest gas play in America and possibly the world, Please question him and seek a second opinion. Your attorney is probably not an oil and gas attorney and if he claims to be one he has been practicing about one year now.
Seismic surveys are, simply put, taking pictures of the sub-surface. A wealth of information for producers and very costly to conduct. You can actually say it will not be a second chance to participate. They won't come back within the next 20 yrs. You don't just order a seismic survey across your land. Back when I was a staff processor in the mid 90's it took 9 square miles to image full fold data on one square mile. Sure some survey will overlap others but if you say NO the data under your property will NOT be available for study by the geoscientist.
Sign the seismic permit, take the 15 bucks or the 25 bucks and let them get the data to the producing companies. That's where the real bucks are.
The same goes for you mineral owners, sign the permits , your money is in the royalties.
The same goes for the lease holders and operators, sign the permits like I did, you can't afford your on survey so make the data available to someone who can do something with it.

Dawson, for one.
Dawson is propietary, CGGVeritas is speculative and Global Geophysical is speculative.

CGGVeritas' survey is now 850 square miles.
