Is it for sure a horizonal? or did they maybe go back and change the permit to a vertical?
Comment by jffree1 on October 27, 2008 at 17:17
Nah, I'll have to wait on the production reports. I have to think too hard when it comes to all of those different strata down there. It's a horizontal well and I don't understand all I read about TD as opposed to TVD, etc...
I tried to follow skip's decline curve discussion and got sorta lost there too. Way technical stuff but very interesting. Now if I only had some mailbox money.......

Jffree1 - care to speculate what those four zones are?
Comment by jffree1 on October 27, 2008 at 13:23
Oh, and those leases were signed around the second week of Sept. if that helps.

Sandstone, Thank you! I did a google on "production packers" and it seems that there are about a jillion different kinds so I just logged off....totally confused, lol.

I'm sorry paige linn...we keep talking about the Donner well across the lake. It's probably because we don't have doodly to talk about over here in Sabine County, Texas.
There just isn't much going on at the moment. I did talk to one of my best grapevine sources today and all he could tell me, which WAS fairly important to some, is that both his mom and his dad were paid two weeks ago for their respective leases with Devon. The money's in the bank.

paige linn, the Donner is in Sabine Parish, La across the lake from Sabine Co, TX

jfree, this is how it was explained to me:
"They ran 4.5 in casing from 6108 to 9489. This means they probably have 5.5 in. casing down to about 6200'. They hang the 4.5 in. from the 5.5 in. The 4 production packers are screwed in between the joints of 4.5 in casing at the intervals they have identified from the logs they ran before running the casing. This means that there are probably 4 zones they want to test. They will set the packers and perforate between them and test one zone and then plug that zone off and test the next. Then they have the choice of pulling the 4.5 casing and packers out and re-running just the 4.5 and cement it in place or they may cement packer and casing in place."

We signed with Devon and were paid. We have another draft out with them right now(signed on 9/17/08) on another piece of property but am not too worried. They have been a good company.

Has anybody who signed with Devon had there drafts declined or better yet got payed? I signed 9/22/08 so I have almost a month for it to clear, just wondering how worried I should be.

Sandstone, 10/16 production report for Donner etal #1:
TD 10-9-08; RAN 4 1/2 FROM 6108-9489'--4 PRODUCTION PACKERS

Someone with more knowledge will have to interpret this (please) for the terminologically challenged.
