Janna, Think of the well head like a garden hose. The tighter the choke (smaller the fraction, i.e. 12/64 versus 32/64 etc.) means that the "garden hose" is partially closed off to limit the amount of gas allowed to exit the well. With the low price of gas currently, and with recent studies showing that a restricted choke might improve the long-term health of the well, many operators are choosing to "choke down" the wells production and restrict the flow.

can anyone explain what the chokes mean and the differences mean in laywomens launguage?

Jffree1:There is no report from the Butler Rooney as of yet. Correct?

WYK, the Encana well production figures don't support what you are hearing. May was 397,411 Mcf (partial month) and June was 474,540 Mcf. Rather than buy into street talk, I prefer to wait for the production report.

I got the report of the butler rooney on here I believe!!! The initial report of the flow rate of the Blackstone A43 was... And you can believe this or not... was 3 times what it is doing choked. Now its hardly putting a million out. JUST FYI Don't have to believe it.

Wish You Knew: Where did you get the report on the Butler Rooney? Also, I assume you're referring to EnCana's Blackstone A-43 1-H? Any idea what the flow rate of that well, presently, is? Or if they're having problems with the well?
