New Field Discovery In Shelby County, Texas Below Haynesville Shale
XTO has filed a new field discovery application for its O.L. Guy Travis Peak Unit Lease, proposed Joaquin ( Triassic) field in A-1215, Triassic(Eagle Mills) formation. Top 11,289'-11,556'(267'). Initial test on 7/16/2009 of 453 mcf/day 0-water 0-condensate 48/64 " choke w/ 5900# FTP SIWP-6,500#,BHP 8,400#, AOF @ 2.75mmcf/day Perf. interval@ 11,451'-11,457' Wasn't any stimulation reported to perforated interval. This discovery should create a new map for Shelby County and surrounding counties too. This county just gets better and better for natural gas production.

This is from the Arkansas state site, but the link below shows the various geological strata

Has anyone figured out who the H--- Jurassic Exploration is? As much as I want to believe in the positive news from this and all of their previous releases, it always gives me pause that there is no source to verify any of the postings????
Here's the paperwork on the well and they only perfed a 6' interval:

Pretty interesting document Jfree1.

What to you make of the Inspection Report info on PG.25?

4/2: Currently at 11,292' with "Well Control Problems"

4/3: Flaring Gas from the Haynesville Smackover "and it is Sweet". 2 families evacuated as precaution.
You'd have to get one of our industry members to explain that, D.G.. I just find the information.

Kite Energy is seeking any oil and gas mineral or production opportunity for purchase in the USA. They can make an offer within a short period of time once they have all the information to evaluate. They are specially interested in producing properties with upside potential in the range of 100,000,000.00 US dollars plus. - July 12, 2009

where do they get their money? My opinion ..take postings with a grain of salt

Does anyone know if this is true? It seems that the Harvey #1 did not state the same announcement as it was after it was announced later. I have interest in this unit and would love to believe our county has a new zone. I have not noticed that this is a drilling company. What are the sources?? Anyone know??

I do find it very interesting that in many of the recent deep well permits in the region (i.e. Devon's Whitton, Petrohawk/Noble's Peace, the brand new CHK/Jarry well) they are permitting completion depths in the 18,000 to as deep as 20K' levels with plans for a verticle test/pilot bore for that bottom depth.

Plan seems to be to gather that deep information, but to complete the well as a horizontal in either the Bossier or Haynesville formations.

Really does have me curious as to what they are fishing for at those lower depths.
Some leases have "depth clauses" that give the operator the rights to their "deepest producing horizon plus 100 feet" , releasing anything deeper back to the mineral owner after the primary term or sometimes within one year after the primary term. If they drill a deep vertical, they can HBP all of the depths down to that point.
do they have to be producing from the horizon..or just drilled to it??
Depends on how you word the lease.
