Conventional wisdom is this administration is using the EPA endangerment finding as leverage to push the Senate to pass a Cap and Trade Bill (either Congress legislates a market-based approach or EPA regulates the old-fashioned way).

Politics aside (no inclination to engage in that here), I think we all understand that carbon regulation will push the US away from coal and therefore toward cleaner alternatives (e.g., natural gas!), for the mid-term and maybe longer.
Gov. Jindal & other state heads of agencies are all writing letters.

"The Jindal administration is mounting a coordinated campaign against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's plan to regulate the man-made gases thought to be responsible for climate change and has filed letters protesting the potential economic dislocation of the proposed policy.

On Monday, Gov. Bobby Jindal and the secretaries of the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources and Louisiana Economic Development filed objections with EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson, a New Orleans native, on economic grounds. Their protests follow similar letters by the executive director of the Louisiana Workforce Commission last week and the secretary of the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality on Dec. 15
."

I wonder if he included any kind of statement re. the frac fluids issue. Anyone seen a copy of Jindal's letter online? Need more transparency.

I heard on the news that congress could pull some of the EPA's teeth as far as it's regulation authority goes if they wanted too...
Well, we certainly don't want them issuing one-size-fits-all regs & mandates. like the previous administration did when they mandated NCLB. As long as states do their jobs, and fed agencies just work as oversight, we can all get along nicely, IMO.
