This well http://sonlite.dnr.state.la.us/sundown/cart_prod/cart_con_wellinfo2... was making a loud hissing sound like a large amount of air or gas escaping sometime around 1/6/2010 or so. It seems to be too early to be fracking.

It was pretty loud from 1/4 mile away or so. It stopped and started a time or two. It was probably "on" for an hour or two.

Anyone have any ideas what it would be? They are planning a lateral, but would they be venting gas as part of the process? Or perhaps an accidental venting?

Aw man....the title of this thread got my hopes up. I thought they had found my ex-wife after all these years!

Are you old enough to remember "duck and cover drills"? Just couldn't resist .....
mac, i know during completions on one of my wells there was a workover rig onsite for about a month. every morning they would arrive and bleed off the pressure on the well before they started working. sounded just like a jet engine.
