114 are killed every day, on the average, on U S highways. 41,611 each year.

Where is all the news media hype on this?

Jay - Not sure how the auto industry is accountable for how a vehicle is driven once it leaves their hands. Airlines have their own regs, any one airline that has too many crashes gets investigated. Don't know that an investigation has ever led to a particular airline being shut down. I'm sure that recurring incidents of poor maintenance or specific (to a manufacturer) mechanical failures could result in same. I also think I remember that, when 9/11 occured, there were cancellations of all flights.

Believe me, I don't hope for accidents in O&G everyday just to prove a point. I cannot find appropriate words to convey how torn I am about the GOM situation, both from an exploration/production standpoint AND an environmental standpoint. Most especially, I'm at a loss for words to express my feelings about the loss of lives.

So, this article flew across my radar. I didn't write it. I simply posted it to raise awareness of where we now stand, in light of recent events, with regard to what now MAY happen next. Just being prepared.

i've been more and more appreciative of the location of my assets here recently, given the general vitriol and rising tone of hysteria from some of the northeast's media outlets being directed at the drilling industry. just do a google news search for natural gas and see what i mean.

they don't like deepwater production, they don't like nuclear, natural gas, or coal... yet have no idea that windmills, solar panels, electric vehicles, and other pie in the sky promises aren't going to be enough to fuel this country.

but then again, the smart ones know that, and still don't care. increasing fuel cost is a surefire way of decreasing usage. they scare me more than the dumb ones do.

i reserve judgment on federal fracking regulation increase, mainly because obama would like to be elected president again.
