I know the main opinion about selling mineral rights is "Don't!" But I'm on the other side of the coin right now trying to make a fair offer to someone to buy their rights- someone I know. So I'm not interested in cheating them- just want to make a fair offer. What do we think a fair offer is? I always was taught to not even consider for less than 3x annual royalty income.

I don't recall ever saying one way or the other, GoshDarn. But since you ask, yes, I've bought minerals, I've bought stocks, I've bought bonds, I've bought real estate, I've bought gold, I've bought timberland, baseball cards, CD's and just about any other thing you can imagine. I'm a retired stock broker after a very fulfilling 32 year career and not the slightest blemish on my record. I don't ever recall any financial transaction that I've ever done that I'm ashamed of. Would there be anything else you'd like to know about me? Notice that I didn't ask, nor do I care what you do. One other thing.....I know a heck of a lot about this play and have tried to be helpful when I could. Put another way, I've never had any other agenda on this web site other than to learn and be helpful. That is enough of my bio.
Right, SB! Who cares???
ROG and SB,
For the most part I could care less. There is probably only one instance in which I care at all - that is when anyone expresses an opinion on GHS on an important financial issue or decision. I, for one, would like to have some kind of idea where the opinion expresser is coming from - what their potential bias may be. I have expressed this to ROG in terms of ROG giving just a little detail about need and also minerals that were held in reserve that provided important color to the mineral selling decision ROG made. I have qualified my opinions about mineral selling often with the remark that I am under no significant financial pressure or motivation to sell. I don't need or want anyone's personal history, just general indications of anything that reasonably could provide a significant tilt in one direction or the other. SB & ROG - you may very well be more fair and more honest than I am, but bias can be subtle and I believe the folks who are asking for advice deserve to know what our bias might be when we express opinions on very important matters.

Just my 2 cents

well said, Led!
"I don't ever recall any financial transaction that I've ever done that I'm ashamed of"

I had some shares in Enron once.... not to proud of that. Made me feel like a moron.
Baron, I didn't say I never lost money..............I did that many times!!!
GD---I have the longest posted comments on this thread I hope you do not think my posts are serious disinformation on the subject. If so I will be happy to leave and never to return !!!!!!
adubu, DON"T LEAVE. In fact, I don't recall your posts from last night, when I first read the thread. However, I am fairly certain that it was NOT your posts that Gosh Darn was referring too.

As you know, the selling of mineral rights is a HUGE and risky decision. It's understandable that a thread would generate heated responses. Let's face it, there are lots of bad guys out there and none of us want them to be able to use GHS to fleece people. We all came here to avoid getting fleeced!

Logger,
Adubu is always a great wealth of information!!!
ROG---Thanks
