There maps are BS. I own land that is high lighted as petrohawk acerage and we have never been approached or leased by petrohawk. Can someone explain that. we have land in sec. 2 and 11 in T15N 8W and like I said nothing leased here.

Rick, do you own 100% of each section?  Petrohawk will highlight sections in which they have only a partial interest.
Les, no we don't. but wouldn't they notify us that they have a partial or aleast maybe contact us about leaseing.
Rick, rest assured that if they wanted to lease your acreage, they would contact you./
Rick, Petrohawk will highlight a section if they have any acreage leased in that section.  You would not necessarily be notified regarding any leasing of other acreage within your section.
Well Spring Branch, I didn't ask if they would lease me. but why they have MY LAND HIGHLITED AS PETROHAWK ACERAGE ON PETROHAWK MAPS... and we have no lease and have not been approached by anyone for leases, and thats all. Read the discusion alittle better ok.

Rick,

They highlight the entire section square on the map.  I have land in a section which is not unitized and has no drilling going on.  Petrohawk also colors my section yellow.  It's their way of saying they have an interest in that section, no matter how small.

One other question guys and gals, when Petrohawk highlited us on their maps, doesn't that discorage other operators and companies from MAYBE approaching the people in these sections for a lease, cause petrohawk may not have enough controling acerage to secure one or both of these sections? Thank everyone for their info on this matter, I really appreciate you inputs. And knowledge' THANKS....
No.  The only condition that would discourage one or more companies from leasing in a section where Petrohawk or any other major shale player holds leases would be their perception of the quality of the rock.
Rick, In section 25 near Zwolle (T-8-13W) Petrowhawk had earlier leased some acreage and pulled back. Then Comstock leases some in same section and now they have pulled back. Section still not fully leased. The price of N/G is affecting them all. It would appear as much drilling as is going on close that it should be unitized but who knows.
Rick, competitors would check lease records in the sections rather than looking at colored sections on a Petrohawk map.
