I presume you are talking about counties in Texas. I would do a search under "Eagle Ford." Eagle Ford is closely associated with Tuscaloosa Marine Shale in Louisiana. So I think parts of Newton County may indeed lie within the boundaries of Austion Chalk/Tuscaloosa Marine Shale/Eagle Ford formations.

thank you. does it go into mississippi and alabama? i live in elgin, close to giddings, and have mineral rights on 76 ac. also, rights in ms and al. good luck to you....and me. judy
In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of) nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…
