Oil and gas discussion of leasing, drilling and production activity in Avoyelles Parish

It is common for land companies to be hired by an operator to acquire their leases.  In some cases the land company leases in their name and then assigns the leases to the operator.  In other cases the land company will take the lease in the operators name.  A lease in TAGCO's name is okay if you know they are representing Anadarko.  The bottom line is that the terms of the lease must be honored by any company that develops the minerals regardless of how many times or under what circumstances the lease was assigned.

Robert,

If it were me I would not lease to Anadarko or anyone associated with them. The wells that they have drilled don't show a level of competence that I would want my lease/property drill by. Until they and other companies show me a record of consistently drilling good wells in the Chalk I would not lease to them or anyone. The only one to date that I have some confidence in is Atinum. At the present they are the only one that has drilled a well that shows the capacity and capability of the Austin Chalk in this area.

What choice  do i have. They are the only one coming to the house. And they are a large company.

If they are the only one and you decide to lease then I would put a clause in the addendum that requires them to report daily the drilling of the well to you. Most importantly the mud loss while drilling in Chalk. I would also want a damage clause in the addendum. If the formation is damaged because of their drilling methods then I would want to be compensated. That would have to be worked out between you and your attorney and them. They may not take a lease with those conditions in it. It depends somewhat on how much land you have in the area that they are interested in.

The other possibility is to just lease and hope for the best.

Any idea who Woodland petroleum is leasing for? This is in the Evergreen area?

Can some explain to us the Austin Chark & TMS level of drilling. Obviious the AC is first level a then TMS. Is there oil at both levels and TMS being a larger content of oil?

Robert,

I'm not sure what you mean by "Austin Chalk & TMS level of drilling". The depth of each varies greatly both in the East/West and North/South directions.

I don't think the content of oil in one or the other has been determined yet. And again it may end up being an area thing as far as oil content. Some areas may have more oil in the Chalk and others higher in Eagle Ford and TMS. Time will tell.

The depth of the Rabalais 35 well being drilled on Yellow Bayou in Odenburg is nearing its target depth.

On Nov. 28, the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources reported the well had reacehd 12,225 feet, about 2,600 feet from its planned verticle depth of 14,848.

The potential of the re-worked Deshotels well on Woodside Plantation in the southeastern corner of Avoyelles is over 1,000 barrels of oil per day.

If this figure holds for actual production, the impact can be very big for the future of Avoyelles Parish.

The following is from Pryme Engergy of Australia, one of the owners of the well:

The nitrogen injection procedure, to recover water and drilling mud from the horizontal section, and flow testing of the Deshotels 13H No.1 well have been completed.
