Heard that lease prices paid to mineral owners are varying quite a bit in Houston County.  Between Crockett and Pennington, recent leases were signed for $350 per acre and 1/5 with those close to XTO drill sites getting $600 and $750 per acre.

Thanks for the report, Joseph.  I had a report this morning that Devon and EOG are competing west and southwest of Crockett and that offers had reached $800/ac. & 1/4.

Has anyone heard of any recent offers?

This is interesting news about the recent leases Southwest of Crockett.  Does anyone have any information about lease interest in the "Kittrell" area of Walker County?

Tuscaloosa Trend Sits On Top Of Poorest Neighbourhood For Decades - Yet No Royalties Ever Paid To The Community -- Why??

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
