I agree that SONRIS is in a class of its own, but it does have some quirks. One that Mr. Morrison has keyed into is the dates on the production reporting. The "report dates" are always the listed as the first day of the month. But the numbers you are seeing are the production numbers for that entire month. This is unnecessarily confusing, but know that production reported on "1/1/2013" is really the production from the 31 days in January. When you consider that, production numbers are in reality being posted within about 40 days of the end of the production month.

Don't ask me why SONRIS does this. The best explanation I've concocted is that they want it to say "January 2013" but they don't know how to format the cells that way in Excel.

Chip,

You mentioned that you've seen wells that are only operated some of the time. Those pumps are on clocks. When they are off that allows the oil to migrate to the wellbore. Then the pump turns on. Its a way to save electricity and wear and tear on the pump when the oil has been pumped out of the wellbore.

Yes, I can understand the timer.  But this little field has one of its wells with a pump jack going all the time and has a bigger tank too.  There are at least five other wells in the area close enough to be in the same field.  I figure the timer is really some old timers calendar and the need for a few bucks.  Under lying this field is Barnett Shale and there are three new gas well sites with in the boundaries of the oil field.  Each of those sites has two or more wells drilled, all going out in a spider like layout.  One where we fly radio control airplanes has six wells on the site.  There is a brand spanking new 10 inch pipeline through the area too.

But I am sure none of those oil wells produce anything like 400 barrels of oil in a month, except for one that keeps pumping all the time.  Maybe in aggregate they produce a 1,000 barrels a month.  They are indeed on different people's land but it is the same field.

Thanks for the continuing education.  Wonder if I can get credit for it?  Not.  I am way too old.

Well let's see: The well is down to 10 bbls a day. So much for the "hotshots" from TX and OK that know it all. They have messed the trend up so badly they can't even sell their leases in an auction. It will be a very long time before anyone comes in and does anything.

That 490BOPD looks good.  Things are picking up.  That seems to be a fair number but I wonder if it is enough to satisfy Anadarko.  We shall see.

I thought that was 490 for the whole month of Feb., not per day?

You are right.  Not per day per month.  Sorry.  Boy it would be nice if it were per day.

This well would have probably done better than 490 bopd if it had been completed correctly.

So true, and Pointe Coupee would be seeing more oil exploration.
