I have been looking at Sonris, as suggested by several on this site. I try and keep up with the conversations, but I was hoping someone could help me. I saw where there has been a permit for a well on a section that we have a few acres in. Could you tell me what to look for when I go to Sonris. What are some of the "important" items I can look at, and do I have to wait until they drill to really find out any information? I know that some are saying the well needs to be vertical and horizontal, and if I looked at it right, it will be. Any feedback is appreciated! The section is 7, Township 13N and Range 12W.

SL, I believe you are referencing the following well:

Chesapeake, Smithburg 7 #H1 Well, Serial #239228, S7-T13N-R12W

This is proposed as a horizontal well with a TVD of 12,444' and MD of 17,600' giving a horizontal lateral length of over 5000'.
Yes, that is the well. I noticed they have built a road. I have read over and over on here how important it is to watch it. Will the information show up on Sonris? Also, how quickly do they usually start drilling? In other words, when will we start hearing some news? I am trying to become more informed, as we were one of those who signed at $200 an acre and now hoping that maybe royalty checks will make it a little easier to swallow. LOL.
CHK will probably start drilling pretty soon maybe within a month of permit date, so maybe around 1-17-09. This is not written in stone but CHK normally doesn't push the time limits from permit date to spud date. Don't start spending your mailbox money until you get it. Congratulations on getting $200 per acre, many got $100. Keep watching Sonris because CHK needs the money and some grandstanding press to maybe out do Petrohawk's 28 million a day well. When they hit a mega-well they will let everyone know. I hope your well is the well.
Oh believe me, I don't count on anything! :) But, it is a little exciting. Thanks for the info. I did not realize that they may drill so quickly. I guess that is one way to look at it, CHK wanting to get some good press out there. Keeping my fingers cross this well will help them. LOL
