Hello girls and gals.Since I am stupid enough to be going in to town this close to Christmas, I was just wondering if I could pick up anything for you guys so everybody doesnt have to be treated as poorly as us last minute shoppers.
There is limited space available in my trunk so you need to be really convincing as to why your stuff should be picked up instead of somebody elses like Jim the "Benton Brawlers ", S.S.P., or any of the many other fine shalers on this site.If it is an ingredient, let me know what dish its going in because we all know thats the way to a mans heart.
If its an item for someone special, let me know why that person is so special.
This may be some of you clowns last chance to make the "List", so you better watch out. (Pun intended)

P.S. Hey KB rsp,
You never cease to amaze me and remind me all at the same time why I swoon over you the way I do!
I really dig a Chick that hates the Mall. (LOL) :-)

GD for most snakes you are right about them not wanting to be around the boot but here in Louisiana we have one snake known as a stump tail moccasin that is very different. This snake ain't scared of nothing and will attack anything. The first one I saw was in Devils Swamp in Vernon Parish back in the early 70s. It bit my truck tire then came after me.
Parker,
One of my dogs got bit by a water moccasin a few years back. Right above his eye. The vet gave him antivenom and heavy doses of antibiotics. He told me that the venom was worse from a rattlesnake, but he had more problems with moccasin bites because of infection. He said that the moccasin had a very nasty bite. Sure enough, the next day my pups head wouldn't fit in a five gallon bucket. Ended up back at the vet getting IV antibiotics.
Hey Sesport Person,
A puma in Bossier? Whats the story on this? I have a good friend recently retired from Louisiana Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries, and he said they have never been able to substantiate a claim of puma (cougar) sighting in Louisiana. At least in recent history. But he said they have fairly regular reports, they are just never able to substantiate them.
BD. It was a cougar and there was video on the local television news. The authorities failed in an attempt to tranquilize it and ended up shooting and killing it. The carcass was autopsied and if I remember correctly it was a normal, healthy male. Probably came up Red River and ended up in someone's back yard.
Hey Skip,
Thanks for the info. (below). I now there is a pretty good population in South Texas (they come up from Mexico). But never heard about this. You know recently a young male black bear came through Ruston. Looked the glass door of a local hotel (really freaked the workers out). Then made a pass through some neighborhoods before moseying on. I gotta check with my buddy and see if he heard about the cat in Bossier. How long ago was this?
Okay, for those too young to remember, the 1970's Hondas were the introductory models. They were smaller than a refrigerator carton, I guess they may have weighed less than 25 pounds. Joking. Rosebud, this what it looked like?

Walking poo bags. That is funny.
BD. Recent. I would guess about two weeks ago.
Thanks Skip
The October 11 edition of the Alexandria Daily Town Talk newspaper had an article about two recent cougar sightings in Natchitoches and Allen Parishes. Each had pictures taken from game cameras. They said that the sightings were the second and third for Louisiana. I saw a black one back in the early 70s in Vernon Parish. I have heard what I thought to be a panthers cry at night a few times.
I'm gonna put a camera at Rosebuds. Hope to get a picture of a walking poo bag.
That is interesting about the cougars. I think they will eventually get more over here, I think coming from Texas.
TD - sounds like that black one might have been a lost Florida panther.

BD - here's a link to the news. I'm still not very good at embedding photos & videos, so this will have to do.
