XTO added a no-perf zone to the lateral last week due to unleased interests in Tract #18. Otherwise... it's just a permit. Drilling has not started yet.

Julie,         What is a "no-perf zone"?

It's a short interval of the lateral that won't be perforated and fracked if they can't get those interests leased. That's the theory anyhow. They will ask for an SWR37 exception for those unleased interests if they are still in unleased status when the well is waiting to be completed. If/when they get the exception they will file to remove the NPZ and produce the entire lateral. It's pretty rare that an NPZ stays in place on final completion but not impossible.

Is there any way to know if they have even built a road or a pad yet? Also, how do you know they are not drilling? Drilling report? How do you tell where rigs are in Texas? Thanks!

Road and pad are built. Rig report comes out every Friday.

Thank you. How did you know that, did you google earth the lat / long to find that location or just what?

Is there any way to know when something like this is accomplished? Is Google Earth updated frequently?

The location coordinates are on the permit plat. Just plug them into search on Google Earth. We just got lucky on the picture. That area was updated with new imagery in February. Western San Augustine County was last updated a little over a year ago so what you see now is what you'll see until next spring, probably.

Thank you. Say, can you tell me EXACTLY what you typed/pasted into Google Earth? The surface location shown on the plat is NOT what I see on your image. I had trouble figuring out the format for what to type into Google Earth for lat/long and I never did get it to precisely match up and pin that exact surface location. I finally got there but it was off a 100' or so.

As far as there not being a rig on site yet, do you ascertain that from a drilling report? And if so, is this info available without subscription?

Do you have any way of knowing the date the Google Earth image was taken?

On the bottom left margin of the image it says 2/09/2015.

See the box on the attached plat labeled 'State Plane Coordinate Datum' (lower left, just above the survey seal). The surface location is what you want to use.

Enter it into the search box thus: 31 26 01.08, -94 14 42.46.

If you were using the coordinates on the bottom of the attached picture... that just indicates where my cursor was located when I saved the image. Useless, IOW.

I goofed. Do use the comma between lat & long. Do not put a period at the end.
