Deeper Natural Gas Wells?

We own no minerals in Louisiana but I try to keep an eye on wells in Caddo and DeSoto parishes because they are contiguous to Harrison and Panola Counties.

If I am reading the information correctly, there are currently 5 operators (Chesapeake, Covey Park, etc) drilling directional wells to depths of over 20,000 feet in the western portion of these two parishes at present.  The experts will know if I am incorrect on the depth.

Regarding horizontal wells, there are two depths given for a well. The first is the True Vertical Depth (TVD). The second is the Measured Depth (MD). The differences is, roughly, the length of the horizontal lateral. The TVD is important in defining the formation that is being targeted.
