MANSFIELD — EXCO Resources Inc. will hold an open house at 11 a.m. today to unveil its Haynesville Shale field office and break ground on a natural gas-gathering and treatment facility. The office is at 8451 Louisiana Highway 175 in the Kingston community.

EXCO Resources says it is one of the top three producers in the Haynesville Shale play in Louisiana with nine operated horizontal wells and eight operated vertical wells drilled and completed. There are also plans to start to drill and complete 21 more operated horizontal wells by the end of the year.

"We are very excited about the success we have achieved in the Haynesville Shale and have committed over two-thirds of our 2009 drilling and completion budget to continuing developing the 85,000 net acres we have in the play," said Doug Miller, chairman and CEO of EXCO Resources in a news release. "In addition to our production and development plans, we are committed to spending $100 million in 2009 alone on our midstream pipeline business that by early 2010 will be able to transport more that 600 million cubic feet of natural gas per day through nearly 900 miles of pipeline."

To accommodate operations of its existing fields and exploitation of its significant acreage position in northern DeSoto Parish, EXCO acquired a site and constructed the new field office.

Any idea on jobs? Who to contact?
A friend of mine went to the event, as well, Jay. I had a conflict and couldn't make it. The most important thing that my friend came away with was that the CEO said Exco would have 21 operated rigs drilling Haynesville wells by 2010 year end and that they had ceased all Cotton Valley drilling until the price of gas reached at least $6.00. You gotta like their well results so far in the Haynesville.
Essentially they plan to grow the company based on the Haynesville & Marcellus Shale plays.
