This just means that a unit is being formed. I think that the State of Louisiana could use better language in their notification process that would not alarm landowners with the term forced pooling.
THANKS TWO DOGS. SO YOU ARE SAYING THEY WILL BE COMING AROUND WITH AN OFFER TO LEASE.
NUDOG,
Chesapeake will probably find your friend soon. Tell him to start thinking, now, about what is important in a lease -- it's not just the money. There are other features, such as cost-free royalties, no surface ops, vertical pugh clause (reserve for yourself the undrilled gas both in the shallow and deep directions if you can), etc. And, make sure your friend knows that lease prices are going back up in this area. Don't let him rush in to a low ball offer.
Henry,
In addition, you are not obligated to lease with Chesapeake, you can get other companies to give you a bid or even go unleased....isn't this correct?
Waltcop,
Absolutely. If someone else wants to lease NUDOG's friend, all the better. Competition!

And... my bad. I thought I read Chesapeake somewhere in this thread. I mis-read. So it may be Chesapeake or someone else. Read the pooling notice to see who is behind it. Oh, and now I read below, and see that it IS Chesapeake. What a lucky guess on my part.
NUDOG. This is likely a pre-conference notice letter. And I agree with Two Dogs and Henry. What would be of value for the members is the name of the O&G company forming this unit or units. And whether this letter covers any section or sections other than 29. If you could post a copy of the letter, that would be helpful. If not, please try to provide these two facts.
HOPE IT UPLOADS OK!!

Thanks for this post. I own some land in 33..... so glad that corridor along hwy. 171 is getting some attention.
It uploaded just fine, NUDOG. Thank you.
NUDOG< Looking at who is in that section, probably the majority of that section is already leased.
Yea, but what is a good lease and what is a bad lease?
The point i was trying to make was cheasapeake or who ever won't have many people to deal with. In answer to your question a good lease is a good lease....a bad one probably occured before march 08 !
