I understand that when there is another number in ( ) behind the section number but what does the ( ) mean in the township #?
JS. Here is a cut and paste from the well scout for this well.

SCOUT INFO
REPORT DATE WELL STATUS MEASURED DEPTH TRUE VERT DEPTH DETAIL
09/02/2009 01 19000 250' FNL & 2350' FEL OF SEC 2. PBHL: 330' FNL & 2350' FEL OF SEC 35, T14N-R09W.

The surface location is in Section 2 of 13N - 9W. The Planned Bottom Hole Location is in Section 35 of 14N - 9W. This is becoming a common means to drill the maximum lateral length within the section/unit by drilling the vertical portion of the well in an adjoining section.
Skip,
Does that mean that folks with mineral rights in Sec. 35, T14N, R9W will share in the bounty? Assuming all goes well drilling-wise and there is a producing well, will that HBP both sections? Can you explain how that works--does that, in effect, make the "unit" 1280 acres instead of the usual 640? Thx very much.
The payment of royalties is based upon the section/unit in which the horizontal well bore is perforated. In this case this well will pay royalties to lessors and UMI's in Sec. 35 - 14N - 9W. Not Sec. 2 - 13N - 9W. The owner of the surface location in Sec. 2 will receive compensation for the use of their surface (well pad) and possibly a well bore easement. This well will only hold by production Section 35.
Samson is buildina an 8 acre well pad in Sec. 2, 13N, 9W. They will drill into Sec. 35, 14N, 9W with this well and will drill into Sec. 2, 13N, 9W with a later one from the same pad. They have one or two other adjoining sections (units) there that will be drilled soon also.
Highwayman, Samson recently received the following well permit:
