Kathy, I saw your post and called the Chamber of Commerce about that (I haven't gotten an exact answer on that & figured many others probably don't know either). The lady I talked to said they are working on getting a tax preparer or financial planner to speak at the seminar, but couldn't promise that there will be on such short notice (she's meeting today with someone who's not a financial person to discuss having a financial person at the seminar). They've only recently realized this IS a topic the public wants to hear about. Hopefully, one will be there.

If the organizers would like someone there to talk about the income tax, social security, medicare ramifications please email me at kathmorgan@bellsouth.net I have almost 20 yrs tax experience and work for H&R Block. Not wanting to come push Block, just get the info out to people if they want it. Kathy Morgan

(To answer Coach's questions about this), I just got off the phone with the BC Chamber of Commerce. The lady I talked to said this is an educational seminar. They have invited different O&G representatives to set up tables for the public to speak with & possibly sign on with. The speakers are: Don Briggs - Pres. O&G Association; Kevin Hill - Pres. of Hill GeoPhysical Consulting; Robert Kyle - Gen. Couselor for Brammer Engineering; and Sam Marsiglia - Dir. of City of Bossier Metro Planning Commission.

Is this meeting HS specific, or is it another "sign-with-me" sales pitch?

Who will be the speakers and what qualifications do they have?

Is there an agenda?

Tuscaloosa Trend Sits On Top Of Poorest Neighbourhood For Decades - Yet No Royalties Ever Paid To The Community -- Why??

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.

This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…
