I think the price of E85 is about 20% less than gasoline, however the fuel mileage will drop 25-30% because ethanol contains less energy per volume than gasoline.

My truck only gets 14 to 17 mpg now. don't know if I can stand 25% less. I may try a tank anyway. Maybe I'll feel better saving the planet and helping a corn farmer.
Can't wait til I can get a cng pickup.

Don't forget livestock feed, which drives up food prices, and so on. It is a vicious circle. The worst part is if they had decided to use other bio mass materials for the ethanol instead of corn, it would not have driven up the prices for all of the above mentioned. Read somewhere that sage grass was better than corn. Produces more ethanol. Don't remember the all details.

Ok, If this is the only example that we can find in the year 2010 of an explosion due to a gas fired auto then I am good with it. "blew out all the windows of his brand new 1959 Ford"

Unless they are making brand new 1959 fords again.... kinda hope they start making brand new 57 chevy's again :) I want one.

34. Lighter than air is good. The gas tends to dissipate more readily. However, this doesn't help much in an enclosed area like a garage, or for cases where gas concentrates inside a building or within the engine compartment or elsewhere in the vehicle.

35. There's some benefit from a higher ignition temperature, but a mechanical spark or even static electric sparks can still easily ignite a methane air mixture. Or it can be ignited because something else is burning. How many accidental gasoline vehicle fires are caused because of gasoline getting on some hot material between 450C and 600C vs. a spark or some other burning material?

36. Hogwash. The vapors inside a gasoline tank are too rich to explode. There's not enough oxygen in a closed gasoline tank to explode unless the tank is empty. For a diesel fuel tank, the air in the tank doesn't have enough fuel mix to explode.

38. The tank may be safer, but it is pressurized. If there is a leak anywhere in the CNG fuel system, it will leak methane under pressure. A gasoline fuel system only leaks due to gravity, as long as the fuel pump is no longer running.

I don't think CNG or LNG vehicles are terribly dangerous, but we need to use valid arguments, not puffery. We also need to recognize the valid risks of NG vehicles so we can prevent or avoid accidents.
