I would appreciate any insight as to land interest in the Atlanta, TX area. A landman called to confirm my name and address and said he would be sending paperwork concerning land that we own in the area. That it had to do with our oil and gas mineral rights.
If you have insight, please let me know. Thank you.

I am expecting paperwork in the mail this week. Will advise upon receipt.
Started getting several interest in leasing again lately, but won't talk to them as they are not the normal ones we have been leasing to or through for years. Also getting lot of offers to buy our lease rights or just buy out our Royalties on existing wells.... has anyone heard of Forestar, Etoco or Patriot Energy?
Forestar owns minerals on some of the pretty somewhat large timber companies property in Beauregard and other surrounding parishes in Louisiana. I have also seen Etoco but will have to look into it to see the location.
Petro-Land, and other "land" companies are contractors that work for whatever client chooses to engage their services. No land company stays in business long taking business only from a select group of clients. They take work from anyone who will meet their minimum requirements and don't care to go long stretches of time without work (they have to let go too many valued employees). Therefore it is a mistake to assume too much from whomever a land company represented in the past. Petro-Land has been all over E TX leasing for numerous companies over the last 7 years.
TD, Forestar is what remains of the Temple empire. They broke up the company (voluntarily) around 2005 (because Carl Icahn was about to raid them and do it himself) and the land and minerals division became Forestar, the finance division (Guaranty Banks) became a stand alone entity and the Wood Products Division stayed under the Temple-Inland brand... for a little while. They eventually sold WPD to GP and some of the land in Texas, that I know of for certain, went to Campbell Group, and Guaranty collapsed. They may have done some land/timber deals with IP and GP both. I think IP got the box plants and paper mills but weren't keen on the WPD. I can imagine old T.L.L.Temple doing backflips at what became of his empire. Anyhow, now it appears that Forestar may be trying to fashion themselves as an energy producer these days although I couldn't say whether or not they have hired any (enough?) expertise.
Petro-Land Group is leasing for Anadarko Petroleum. Guarantee it. 3/2 @ $250.00 acre and 1/5th would be a good asking price.
It was a suggestion Jay. I don't think she would get anything more than a 1/5th here. All negotiations have give and take. The suggestion I provided is a good one for her and has been established in the area.
called landman back yesterday and he said that budget cuts forced a 40% layoff for the company. Not sure if this is going forward.
Too bad. They have been working there for quite some time. Hopefully it comes through for you.
Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
