It will be a few days before the full permit is available on SONRIS.  Maybe even next week as slow as things have been in Baton Rouge.  If it is not available by Thursday, I'll see if I can get a copy from the local office.

Rock Man and Ryan, here is a link to the well permit for the Johnson #1.  It is a lease well.  I hope the greater detail in the permit helps us to understand just what GEPH II is doing here.

I still believe that GEP will drill the deviated well, acquire as much data as possible (logs and potentially core), and then decide whether to use this well as a producer after their evaluation is complete. I georeferenced the permit plat and added the deviated well to my map of the Sections that leases had been filed in. If the well is converted to a producer, it will likely be drilled across Sections 27 and 22, as per their recent field order application.

Permit plat and info sure seem to indicate that they are chasing a finite subsurface feature (structure / reef) at the Smackover level. And cannot drill vertical due to surface restrictions over that target.
