There is no "lease agreement number" on an O&G lease.  The number(s) they are referring to are the instrument number and/or the book and page number of the recording in the public record.  With that information they can go on their computer, access the online public records and print out a copy of the lease identical to the one you have.

Thanks Skip.  That's what I thought, but when I gave him the Book, File, and Page numbers, he kept insisting that that information was useless without the Lease Agreement number which was "located in the top right corner of the Lease Agreement."

"He" either doesn't know what he's talking about or he is stalling for some reason.  I suggest that you send a certified letter with a copy of the recorded lease.

Low and behold, another employee from "Oil & Gas Co." sent me an email to let me know that the "missing" Lease Agreements that they could find no record of on yesterday, suddenly were discovered this morning!

I was told that even though they were issued Lease Agreements they were still considered working interest owners.  But I thought since they had leases they would be labeled as royalty interest owners.

This "Oil & Gas Co." also requested that I scan them copies of the Lease Agreements that I have.  Why do I need to do that?  Someone from this Company took the time to go into the Court House, file and record these Leases. They've been Notorized as Sworn Documents.

Should not they be able to locate their own copies?

Is this a usual occurrence?

Unless you'd prefer to continue to get the run around, just send them a copy of your lease by certified mail, return receipt requested.  Or send an email with a scan of the lease as an attachment.

Skip, because of past dealings, I really don't trust this Company.  Would they be able to change any of these documents for their benefit?  If they can/t, then I'll go ahead and send them in to them.

The only copy of your lease that really matters is the one recorded in the public records at the court house.  They can not change it.  Go ahead and send them a copy of the recorded lease one of the two ways that I have suggested previously.
