Possibly 10,000 - 15,000 perm jobs. I hope Jindal can make this happen!

I read some stuff about 10 or 12 years ago about the Army commissioning Texas A&M and some oil company, can't remember the name, to develope a devise to make the JP fuel that many military vechicles run on at the well head from NG.
UT has a program now to convert nat gas to liquid fuel compatible with current gasoline cars. It works, and looks cost effective as long as oil stays high. They have had problems in scaling up their tech though. I havn't heard much about it in about a year though.

"this could be a colossal piece of news for the region"
Oh boy, could this be "colossal" !!!
Where is our guy, Fleming? Every state representative and senator needs a tap on the shoulder about the Shell GTL project.
This is the best news and potential for our natural gas supply that I've heard in the last 3 years.
do recall that your guy "Fleming" was in opposition to the natural gas act in Congress. Whether he would support such a move or not may be questionable.
I'm pretty sure that Rep. Fleming was on board with and a supporter of the Picken's Plan.
he co-sponsored it. the rep from baton rouge was the guy who didn't...

To name a few. Fleming is very much on board and strong supporter of Haynesville Shale.
Personally, I am all in favor of tax credits for new technologies. Certainly, they should be sunsetted (end) or else be renewed by future elected officials if they are needed. These things have a way of becoming permanent.

The prospect of gas to liquids or this cellulose plus natgas "green gasoline" are big enough to justify favorable tax treatment. There is a whole debate over biofuel generated electricity. Here on the West Coast they are building a couple of generators that use forest waste. It's not cheap and the utility company in our area has refused to tell ratepayers how much this electricity is costing us. I have not been a fan of biofuels, mostly because they use food crops - but this could be a good use for forest slash.

OK so now instead of the mideast exporting oil they are now going to export LNG...Great!
Here is a American story happening right now in LA.
Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
