Les B,

Do you know of activity in S17-T8N-R13W in Sabine Parish
Hot Wells area?

Thanks,
Chad
Chad, Comstock plans to spud the following well this month which is ~ 3 miles northeast of your section.

Comstock, Sustainable Forests 3 Hz #H1 Well, Serial #240372, S10(3)-T8N-R13W
so what does this mean for the texas side of things, shelby county
durango mom. I don't track the Haynesville Shale Play in E. TX., just NW. LA. However it can be inferred that the spread of development south and west in LA. bolsters the prospective nature of the shale in E. TX.
DM, several companies (Devon, EOG, XTO) have stated they plan to increase drilling activity in the southern portion of the Haynesville/Bossier Shale in Texas. I am not sure how much of this increased drilling would occur specifically in Shelby County. There are currently four Haynesville/Bossier Shale wells being drilled in Shelby County (2 - Devon, 1 - EOG, 1 - Petrohawk).
Skip,
Is there any hope for north? Rodessa area?
Mary. I would be surprised if the shale existed or was productive as far north as Rodessa. Currently the northern extent of productive shale in Caddo appears to be south of Caddo Lake. The horizontal Smarkover wells being drilled in southern Arkansas probably hold the best promise for new development in the Rodessa area. You can read about that development activity in the Arkansas Group and the North Caddo Group.
What township and range is Caddo Lake located in?
Townships 20 North, Ranges 16 and 15W.
Thank you, Skip. I did read about some additional permitting in the Caddo Pine Island fields (I am not exactly sure where they are geographically located) and something between Ida and Rodessa. I will do some additional research in both of these groups. Some of our property stretches down as far as Vivian and Black Bayou, but not as far as Caddo Lake. I am not real familiar with the overall area, but I did travel to Rodessa last summer to find my grandparents' graves. My dad's family worked the oil fields there in the early 1930s. I am fortunate to have inherited some royalties from producing wells and am holding out hope for something more from the increased exploration.

Thanks again!
Mary
