Joy, you might post your question in the East Feliciana Group but I haven't heard anything out of that area in many months.  No leasing, no permits, no drilling.  I agree with Jay.

I have started reading.  I  need  to rest my brain for a few minutes.

So, far

I have not  seen anything to help me understand why Jackson, EFP is dead.

And EFP group has not replied.

If  you have time, I am forever grateful if you will tell me why.

There hasn't been in activity in the EFP Group for many months.  When you post a new discussion in that group, all the members get an email notice.  It may take some time for members to see your discussion and even then it is unlikely that there is anything recent to discuss.  The TMS play has withered because the wells are very expensive and the price of crude is too low to support the costs.

Joybee, it is like having money in the bank, if not for you but maybe your grandkids. Oil & Gas is like riding a rollercoaster, tomorrow you may hit the high point but it may also be the low point.

Joy, I would definitely recommend hiring a dedicated oil and gas attorney.    These things are very complicated and if you make a mistake, it could end up costing you mega money.   It is very difficult for a layperson to negotiate a contract with an oil company that has all the expertise in the world and has a huge legal staff.   Kind of like, you wouldn't operate on yourself.    If ever you needed an attorney to protect your interests down to the tiniest detail, which could be very important, it is now.   Attorneys do not necessarily cost an arm and leg.   Mine drew my contract for $150.   But it is wonderful to try to educate yourself with all the material you can find.   Good luck!

To: Carter Boater, thank you for your recommendation,  As  a  matter of fact, in September 2010, regarding another matter, I  had the pleasure of communicating with  Attorney Leslie Ligon  who referred me to Rob Ligon in Clinton, EFP, Louisiana.

Cary Miller,  thank  you  for  your  well  founded  advice.

One of the many things GOD's Inspiration has taught me is  "In business or  potential business situations, talk to my Attorney before speaking to anyone else."  and second,  never approach business with attitude to "save a dime"  because, in the end, "you save a dime, but lose "hundreds of dollars."  

Thank you for your  advice and information because it reinforces my beliefs.
