The O&G activity in SW AR. will never get the media coverage that the HS commands. That make GHS especially valuable as a resource for mineral owners who wish to make informed decisions concerning their mineral estates. Lacking media coverage, the best information that is accurate and available to the public is in the county clerk's office. It would be a great addition to the group to have periodic reports from those who can spare thirty minutes to stop at their courthouse and flip through the Day Book.

I agree on a name change for the group. I think SW Arkansas O&G Development would be more appropriate. The current name tends to give the impression that Haynesville Shale is the focus of the group. At this point I see a strong consensus that if anyHaynesville Shale exists in S. AR., it is not deemed sufficiently productive to warrant any exploration. There are other potential E&P targets and new technology that will enable the development of known and future plays.

Is anyone involved in the Fayetteville shale play? Particularly Fayetteville central? The B.L.M. and seeco have entered an agreement in which seeco gets exclusive exploration and extraction rights in a newly created unitization plan covering 186,000+ acres with 87% being forrest service land. seeco asks private landowners to join the unit and that decision is my struggle right now.

I see where EOG has a legal notice in the Texarkana paper asking for a wildcat unit for a 11,000 foot test in Sec. 24-19S-25W, which is in southwest Lafayette County. They want to drill a lateral 3,500 feet. Could this be the start of something? Someone told me that they have leased over 30,000 acres in Lafayette and Columbia counties.

When i first joined Pickensplan I mentioned the fact that there was an empty factory building, just outside of Jonesboro AR., that I thought would make an excellant place to make turbine engines and such for the wind mills. Well, that factory was purchased by a company that makes wet wipes. Amasingly though, the next week the news reported that a new building was being built to make the wind turbines for the wind mills !! Am I brillant, or what ?.....lol

Camterra hit a dry hole(oil) near Three Creeks the other day. Have not heard anything about HS activity near Three Creeks. Landman said HS would require a different lease than what we currently have. All they are doing is drilling shallow wells for oil.

So much for varying "Experts" opinions. First off I want to say oil and gas is no respecter of statelines. And there has not been sufficient drilling to evaluate the Haynesville formation. We do know Haynesville formation is present, and productive in south AR. As a matter of fact Marathon should be spudding Haynesville location in AR any day now. You can bet they will test the shale sequence also.

Aubrey, The $200 per year is an estimate of what my parents recieve in royalty payments per year. They have two parcels: one 10 acre section that was leased by Gulf Oil in 1961 and 9.07 acres which is land that is leased to the Dardenale Army Corp of Engineers in, I believe,1958. The mineral rights for this property were kept by my family. Royalty payments come from TXO out of Dallas on both properties and Hanna Oil Co in Paris, Ark. is the production company or has something to do with these leases. I'm not sure where to start on this or if this is considered to be adequate production to hold the leases. Any info you can provide in directing me is appreciated.

Kat, Do you mean $200 to your parents or Total of $200 to them and other landowners who may have interest in the unit? More importantly: Do you know how many acres are in the unit?. Name of Field? In getting a unit dissolved the main criteria is usually about revenue generated/acre. Unless landowners are pro-active dissolution will never happen. Seems like an urgent matter to me. Do you know name of company who acquired lease in 1958?
