There is a posting on the DNR Scout Report showing a Well permitted in E. Feliciana Parish.
Operator is: TREK Resources
Land Owner: Hurst
Well Serial # 243162
Location: Sec. 56 T1S R3E
Permit Depth: 13,600
It looks like this MAYBE a vertical Austin Chalk well. If anyone has more information please post.

Just a guess but it appears to be to shallow for Austin Chalk. In Pointe Coupee the Austin Chalk is down around 16,000 feet. Check out North Bayou Jack Field in Avoyelles Parish, that is Austin Chalk. Also some comment about leasing around Zachary which is pretty far south of you. However, the Chalk covers a lot of territory.
Good luck,
Chip
Chip,
The Austin Chalk shows at 13,100 ft in the Warren T Price well just North of the Devon - Lane well that's drilling now. As you go East the formation rises and all of this is above the shelf. The Chalk in North Bayou Jack is below the shelf so it would be much deeper. I'm pretty sure this is a Chalk well.

I thought the Warren T Price well was the same one as Devon Lane/ethel well on La. 955...
WM,
The WTP well was drilled back in 1979 as a Tuscaloosa. well. The Tusc was watered out or is watered in. No gas. So back then that's all they had on there minds - Gas from TUSC. I think Devon used the basic info from that well and decided that area looked very good to take look at for TMS.
Well that is good news. That means you have a better opportunity that exploration outfits will drill in your area.

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of) nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
