Coleen years ago the shale was a formation that broke drill bits or stuck them when they drilled into it. Today it is a different story with the new drilling technology.

What your hay supplier states makes no sense to me.  I'm not sure what you are referring to as "unit maps".  Each drilling and production unit approved by the state has a plat which is a map of sorts however they are organized in the state database by unit name.  So you have to know the unit designation.  Give me a section-township-range and if it has a unitized well, I'll send you a link to the field order which includes the plat.  Not all sections have unit orders.

From what ive heard from my hay supplier once down to certain depth it takes forever to get to last depth needed. His son works for the Hughes company or something like that .do you know where I could find unit maps at I've been wanting to get one for my husband's oil/gas royalty and for mine.

35X is drilling the MRD Weyerhaeuser Co 15 #1 permitted to 15,217' in the Vernon Field.  The rig was 13 days drilling @11,010' on Friday, June 17.  Before the Weyerhaeuser well, 35X drilled the Lamkin 4 #1 to 15,395' in the Clay Field.  Both of these are vertical wells testing multiple Cotton Valley sands looking for rock qualities that are similar to that found in the Terryville Complex, Lincoln Parish.

Is anyone else getting offers in Jackson Parish? If so, by who and what kind of money is being offered?

I was told by a landman that Andarko sold all these original leases in Jackson to jump on some newly discovered offshore fields and they needed the capital. Now that prices are down no one is leasing or drilling and just sitting on things until prices rebound.
