Anyone have a clue what the new find is going to be?

I have no idea what it might be, unless it were the horizontal Smackover as in Brown Dense.

Does anyone know for sure that CHK is the one leasing the brown dense. I heard that it was CHK with Total as a JV but that was just a rumor. How much land has been leased in the Brown Dense area? I've heard rumors of leasing stretching from Columbia county over to Ashley county with the northern portions of Webster, Claiborne, Union, and Morehouse parishes involved. That could add up to around 1million acres when you include all the parishes. Leases are averaging $300/acre with 20% royalties.

interest in this next big play of ours."
What play does CPK already own a one million acre position?
LP, if it is out West it is fairly easy to accumulate a one million acreage position.

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
