I am a owner in Section 10 of South Caddo. The primary lease agreement is up 12/19/11., with the usual 2 years secondary. Has there been any test wells done or is there a production well? I have not heard anything since the lease signing. I have no idea which way to proceed. Thansk for your time!

There are numerous Section 10s in South Caddo Parish.  One in fact in each township.  No one can answer your question unless you include the township and range.  It should look something like this, S10-15N-14W.  The full s-t-r location is included in the legal description contained in your lease.

Sorry,  Section 10 Township 16 North Range 14 West. Thank you for your help!

Chesapeake completed the Provenza 10-16-14H #1 in your section in September.  It is a good average Haynesville horizontal well.

Thank you so much. I had no idea where to turn and I truly appreciate it.

You're welcome, LuAnne.  It may be the first quarter of next year before Chesapeake begins paying royalties on your well.  Keep in mind that the first check will be for multiple months of production.  Don't make any budget decisions until you have received at least three to four checks.  Good Luck.

LuAnne,  do some searches for Division Orders here on GHS.  Those threads will tell you what to expect next.

You don't have to do anything (so long as the legal research proves you do own the rights)  They went all the way back to 1847 with my land - they go all the way back to the first time it was laid out, so that takes awhile.  Meanwhile, keep all documents about your land and the minerals close by in case you need them (I did)

Your checks SHOULD arrive as Skip says sometime in the next few months, depending on the company. There is zero you can do to speed it up.

Not trying to scare you, but the title work your landman did is nothing like the in-depth research that the company's lawyers are doing now.  They want to make sure to pay the right people.  There have been more than a few people who spent money they EXPECTED to get once the well started flowing .... only to discover that they did not own the rights to the minerals after all.  Most people's rights are fine, but occasionally ....

Have a good Xmas, but wait until next year to buy the BIG presents.  Those things will be cheaper after Christmas anyway :)

Thank you all so much for explaining the process! I will just remain patient and be surprised when the checks begin. I hope all of you have a wonderful Holiday!
