Amazingly, this will be the 9th Smackover well drilled in this 320 acre unit in the last 55 years. Five of the wells were drilled in last 12 years (including last permitted location). Only 2 of the older Smack "B" wells  are no longer producing. The original well continues to produce quite well. To the best of my recollection the oldest leases in unit date back to about 1946.

This info is provided to illustrate why I have continually pointed out the fact that any lease you enter into may be the most important document you will ever sign. I know of leases in Haynesville Field that are more than 100 years old. Your unborn and unknown heirs may appreciate you for your diligence.

Looks now as if the above well may be attempted as a dual producer, the additional interval being the "SMK D RA":

Obed, The Smack "D" zone designates that the "B" and "C" zone production can be co-mingled. This will not be a traditional dual completion with 2 strings of tubing.. We have couple of wells in unit in which production is already co-mingled. We had to reconfigure "B" zone units (160 acres) to coincide with "C" zone units (320 acre) in order to do this..

I am hopeful the Formby location will be next location drilled after completion of Sanders Heirs well in s12 which should spud today.

Thanks for the info Aubrey. Also, thank you for your support of my postings concerning AIX wells in East Haynesville Field of Claiborne Parish.

Aubrey, can you explain to me now the folks that had leases in the 160 acres units did not get disadvantaged by having their units double without any change in the lease provisions.  Looks like it just cut their royalties in half when the reconfiguration took place.  Was there any advantge to them for this to be done?  Who instigated the reconfiguration, oil companies, Dept of Conservation, mineral owners, others?  Thank for the information.

columbia 1, Sorry to be so delinquent in replying. I should think that some landowners could have been disadvantaged. I do not know the details of any agreement between landowners and Enerquest. On behalf of myself and numerous relatives I objected to any unit changes. I was the only person to object to these changes. As far as I know, noone else filed any objections with the Conservation Commissioner. On that basis the comm. turned request down. During a period of 3 to 4 years I was contacted numerous  times by Mr. Giles Gillespie about withdrawing my objections. After negotiations we agreed to terms which protected my and my relatives interest and in my opinion would lead to drilling more wells. For example, the Formby well recently completed in unit.

If any were disadvantaged I would say it was because they paid no attention to Cons. notice and did not even request a pre-conference hearing. Or, perhaps they were able to get a better deal than I DID. i DO BELIEVE LANDOWNERS SHOULD ASK FOR A PRE-CONFERENCE HEARING ON ALL MATTERS WHICH AFFECT THEM. In the absence of any objections the OOC will usually approve changes such as this. In this case I did not recieve a notice. I heard about hearing just a few days before this hearing was scheduled.

This well just reached TD at 11,800 ft. To me it is remarkable that they drilled this well in 8 days. Love that Nabors crew and Rig 735. Great work you guys.

Is this on the Gleason Est

cynthia

Cynthia,

The well referenced above is the Formby well on Sand Hill Rd. right near where Billy Haynes grew up. We completed that well about a month ago. It has not been put on line yet. Same for Sanders Heirs well. It is on our homeplace. I think you probably know whre it is.

The only Gleason Est. wells I am aware of are in Cotton Valley Field. XTO has drilled several wells on property and I think they may be currently drilling another on that land.

Do you live in Shongaloo ?

Aubrey, take a look at this new XTO SMK permit please.  Looks like a horizontal but the TVD wouldn't be right for a RC or any SMK for that matter.  Typo?
