Who is drilling the well, Anadarko?  We will have to wait a while to see how the first Vernon Parish Austin Chalk well is producing.  It may crap out like LaCour #43.  Though it sounds like LaCour #43 will be producer of value for a long time to come.  Just not a super bonanza.

Click on A162 under ORG ID.

Skip,

What is a status 31? "Dry Hole- Future Utility mean exactly"- Thanks in advance

Non-producing well with possibility of future use such as a SWD (Salt Water Disposal) well.  The Status 31 classification means the well does not have to be P&A'ed (Plugged and Abandoned).

This may be a stupid question but, the possibilities of producing (oil/ gas) in that formation are most likely not going to happen? This is not good news for landowners?

thanks

Brad,  I'm unsure of the particular well you are referring to.  How about a serial number?

244429

I can't access the well file in SONRIS Classic from this computer.  I'm out of town and will look at the originals of the reports when I return.

Brad,

Its not the formation its the company.......... You can't drill long laterals in chalk and not plug-up the fractures. That is what I've tried to get across since they started drilling in the chalk. Until someone comes in with the right drilling technique we are screwed.

Joe, too bad there's not some high-pressurized rotating air "tubes/worms" which could function to crack open up the chalk instead of using frack liquid.

anybody know anything about this well?

Although I am not well versed in drilling, this well has more reports of "Slide" than any I have reviewed previously.  It's relatively common in the curve and horizontal.  I have not seen it before in the vertical.
