Hey you GHS Guys and Gals,
There is an article in the CAPITALCITYNEWS.US under the Heading "The Coming Boom". Take a look at it.
BATON ROUGE — Revolutionary technology, which allows natural gas to be converted to synthetic gasoline that can be used in any ordinary automobile without a conversion kit, is poised to come to South Louisiana in a big way. If it does, the future of the state and, for that matter, the world could change for generations.
This technology, combined with Louisiana’s massive reserves of natural gas, could completely end America’s dependence on oil imported from the Middle East, Venezuela, and other OPEC countries.
Although public officials are mum, there is little doubt that a site in St. James Parish is being considered for a massive GTL (gas-to-liquids) plant that would make Louisiana central to how the world gets its energy.

Wow.....this is a great article....let's just pray that it will manifest!!!
Hi HANG,
I just went there and the ".US" is correct. Its also the web link posted on the front page of the paper. The headline is still listed on the front page when it comes up. Don't know what you got into but that was not their site.
Hopeful: Here is a direct link to the article. Hope this solves the problem.

I recall an article a while back that the Arab states over in the gulf have been using this process for a while. If true... when did we start following rather than leading?
various news sources in the Baton Rouge market have reported on the recent visits of delegations from an undisclosed company seeking to perhaps locate a new facility in the area. Apparently, the political and community leaders with whom the delegation met had to sign agreements to keep the conversations private. The veiled comments from the politicians who spoke to the press did not give me great encouragement. Perhaps Woody has spilled the beans! Let us hope this does come to pass.

The first large-scale plants were built in Qatar because the nation has an abundance of low-cost natural gas. The cost of Shell's the plant in Qatar escalated to about $18 billion, but the company hopes the knowledge gained there will help keep costs in check in Louisiana, one of the people said. The diesel produced in the state could be exported to Europe and Latin America.
The U.S. last year was a net exporter of petroleum products, such as diesel, for the first time in 62 years. Shell considered locating the facility in Texas and Louisiana but opted for the latter because the state offered better incentives, a person familiar with the matter said.
Way to go Louisiana. I would like to know what the "better incentives" were......

In September, South Africa's Sasol said it was undertaking an 18-month feasibility study for a $10 billion GTL facility adjacent to its chemical plant in Calcasieu Parish, La.
Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
