Looks like a re-entry of a 2005 Tuscaloosa Sand completion (19,000' perforations)

251104 is new serial number for Key well

Just looked at the log on the original well - Base of AC at about 17,500'

So what you think RM,  they will attempt a lateral/HZ at the AC reservoir.  Is that why the new well permit only goes to 18000 MD,

Controlling factor on what can be done here is tied to how this well was plugged.

Original operator ran 4.5" casing to TD with top of this string around 14,000' - above the AC.

This is within 7.625" casing that was set to below 18,000' (below the base of the AC).

If the 4.5" casing was not pulled during plugging, the only that that can be done here is to  attempt a vertical completion since cutting a window and trying to drill a lateral inside 4.5" casing is too skinny an operation to have much of a chance of mechanical success.

If the 4.5" casing was pulled during plugging ops, new operator could attempt to cut window and drill a lateral out of the 7.625" casing. Perhaps a 6.125" hole. And then set 4.5' casing in the new lateral.

This is still a bit on the skinny side as to downhole tubulars but it is do-able.

My personal opinion is that regardless of how the well was plugged, Key is going to attempt a completion in the AC (perf and frac) to see how this well performs. Basically a single stage frac to see what sort of O&G this AC will give up.

Then use this info to extrapolate to potential new well and horizontal.

Good info in that PDF. Looks like about a 4000' lateral that will have TVD around 17,360' - or the basal AC section.

After getting direction from Skip as to how to find detailed P&A report on SONRIS, it appears that the well that Key is re-entering to drill this lateral did not have the 4.5" casing pulled when it was plugged. The apparent plan to start the lateral around 13,400' allows the operator to use larger drilling tools since the cross over between 7.625" casing and 4.5" casing is below that kick off point.

This still we result in Key being about to only set 4.5" casing unless they use some sort of exotic slim style 5" or larger casing.

Smaller casing equals smaller frac - but at least it will be a frac and test of the AC. This should be interesting well to watch.

Still wonder who Key is working for on this well.

Recent leases around and covering part of the proposed unit for the Key #1 Patin have been taken by Redhawk. Do yall know anything about them?

Only Red Hawk I know is an oilfield services group. But that (Red Hawk) is a very common name. But there is no operator that I know of that carries that name - I am guessing this group is a lease acquisition / broker group that is working for an operator.

Following up on Jay's comment using the PetroQuest presentation as to the Key well being tied to EOG (ran out of "reply" options on that discussion thread). Have to agree that this is the case (unless there are some non EOG windows in that area).

But if it is EOG - why go stealth again? Everyone else sees this presentation.
