I am curious if this is of any interest to people. I track upcoming hearings regularly and maintain my internal map. Would there be interest in seeing something like this updated bi-weekly or monthly?
Absolutely, Ryan. Good visual.
Yes, good work.
Sounds good. If there is interest, I will publish an update every couple of weeks and see how it goes.
Thanks.
Some may recall that I posted a weekly "snapshot of the play" that tracked where Haynesville drilling and production units were being approved in the first year of the play. I decided to stop posting it when it became obvious that a number of units were being applied for without any geologic justification as to the prospective nature of the shale in that unit location. In some cases those applications appeared to be efforts to market development rights as opposed to indications of intent to drill HA wells. A number of companies formed units that were never drilled. In order to not give mineral owners expectations that were unlikely to be fulfilled, I chose to stop posting that discussion thread. Now, sixteen years later, I think the economic Haynesville Shale footprint is well established although there are minor step out applications for units that may or may not be drilled. That particularly applies to HA units in the Zwolle Field by GEPH II and Ensight IV. If any of those three units have wells drilled, I'll post it.

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
