The panel got a more wait-and-see reaction from the gas industry group Energy In Depth. If nothing else, the panel seems ready to have an “adult conversation” about how to proceed with shale gas production safely and responsibly, spokesman Chris Tucker said.
“We’re not going to prejudge the panel before they even convene their first meeting,” Tucker said.

The fight in New York State really does put us mineral owners in La and Tx in a conflicted position. It is likely in our short term financial interest to see drilling in NY hindered or stopped because that's just that much less NG on the market and holding the price down. On the other hand, it is probably not in our long term interest, and certainly not in the interest of the nation as a whole, so see NY limiting or stopping NG drilling and fracing.
Sort of the "my financial interest" vs the "statesman" dilemma.
I looked into my crystal ball and have seen that NY politicians will see how much money they are missing out on and say, "I think they have made that fracking process much safer now."
Politicians can't turn down spending people's money. oops they already did
Maybe the politicians are just holding out for more money...huh?
I have conflicting emotions on this issue. I’m big on protecting the environment and believe we need to take care of this planet so we don’t have to worry about colonizing others someday, lol! I think that sometimes ecosystems can be damaged beyond repair and we should get away from fossil fuels. I know too that we need to eliminate our dependence on foreign oil and hope natural gas can be safely produced as an interim solution until we can develop even greener sources. I would hope development of alternatives wouldn’t slow with more use of natural gas.
On the other hand, I stand to make some money from drilling and fracking for natural gas. There’s a gas factory with 14 permitted wells being developed now in the unit in which my family’s “old place” is located. The property has been in the family for generations and it’s about as pristine as you’ll find in these parts. I would sure hate to see it ruined as that is my retreat for some peace and quiet, and I would worry even more if that was where I had to live and raise my children. Maybe I’ll come to be thankful that we got developed before fracking is possibly banned. Maybe I’ll be laughing all the way to the bank someday! So like it or not, I guess we can be a guinea pig!
Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
