Oil & Gas Pro Minerals and Royalty: Or, What Did I Just Sell to That Guy?

Now that NAPE has been over for a couple of weeks, and the hangover(s) and short week after Mardi Gras has come to an end, I figured I would address a topic that has come up on more than a few occasions in various discussions on GHS, and seems to have been revived again in the wake of the latest mass mailings from mineral and royalty brokers.

NY State Admits Ignoring Threat to City’s Drinking Water

Well Duh! Like I said: If hydraulic fracturing is so damn safe, why does Big Oil need exemptions?

In two documents released last October and earlier this month, the Department of Environmental Conservation declared that it “does not…find a significant environmental impact…

landowner 2009 Economic Stimulus Package and Your Taxes

Here is an overview of what the new Economic Stimulus package is going to mean to your taxes. Please remember that there are a lot of specifics that haven't been announced yet, so these are mostly generalizations.

Oil & Gas Pro State of the Industry, As Seen at NAPE (From an Observer's Perspective)

Many of you have looked to various indicators and bellwethers as to the general health of the industry as a whole, and in particular, how same will apply to the Haynesville Shale for the coming year. From those of us "in the business", many of us look to the turnout, prospects, and outlook gleaned at NAPE (formerly the North American Prospect Expo) as a significant bellwether as to the general state of the business in the coming year.

A little background:

NAPE began in… Continue
