Thanks for the update, John.
Torrent now has an application before the state to form a 320 acre Cook Mountain C Sand unit consisting of the west quarter of Section 33 and the east quarter of Section 32, 2S - 6E. The Cook Mountain C Sand is described as between 7,502' and 7,529'.
What parish?
St. Landry. North Bayou Jack Field. Section 33 is where this well is permitted.

thats a redrill.....of 152612?
Yes, I know. My point is that Torrent has the lease rights in Section 33, where S/N 250724 is located so they can drill whatever depth/formation they wish to including vertical wells in shallow sands, like the Cook Mountain C Sand.
thx skip, our leases have no depth restrictions. we gave them to the moon and china.. we were just happy to be leased... but we do have pugh clause in place. we just want to see some action.
IMO, a Cook Mountain well would qualify as action. Thankfully it can not serve to hold the rights to the AC and TMS as long as you have a vertical Pugh clause. You do have a vertical Pugh, don't you?
Could be. But why wouldn't Torrent just go ahead and spud their AC permit to reset the prescriptive period? Possibly money issues? A lease well or a Voluntary Unit well would serve the same purpose without having to go through the process of forming this Cook Mountain unit.
Then Torrent should hope that the surface owner isn't reading this discussion thread.
I suspect you,and Jay, are correct, Bob. Just the way you replied, I thought maybe you knew for a fact that it was a prescription well. If I owned the surface, I would be looking up the most qualified and experienced O&G attorney I could find. And quick.

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
