Why are there no responses to this very direct question?  Where are all the experienced voices of expertise in the O&G industry?

Where hv they gone?? And why?

It is normal to drill a 12 1/4" hole when you are going to set 9 5/8" casing.  This casing program allows them to run an additional 7 5/8" casing/liner if they get in trouble in the Chalk.  This well should be salvageable,  they will have to sidetrack and run casing and then drill on to their target.  It will definitely be an additional expense, but it is likely that the well is not lost.

Thanks for the knowledgeable answer!!  Good to hear it could be salvageable!

Yes thx for your input Chopman

Crosby 10 #1 was reported 80 days drilling ahead @ 21,100' on 1/3.  Should be nearing  or at TD this weekend.

an entry was made on this well 1/13  "ream lateral to 22360'; tooh; pickup 5 1/2" Pkr & sleeveliner; tih to 22,342; w/liner

Another new entry on the Crosby well today January 21,2020

This well had a casing test and a directional survey added to the documents listed- entered today.  You can access it by clicking on the well number above.  Sorry, I don't have a clue what any of it means.  Maybe some of you professionals could shed a little light.

Thanks Jay. I appreciate your input

Thanks Jay!  Is this the same as with the SN 251809 Crowell well, waiting on flow rate reports after fracking complete?  This takes several months after drill completed right?

Ensign US Drilling Rig #777 reported the Crosby 10 #1 as 101 days drilling ahead @ 22,360' on Friday, 1/24.

This well is inside the greater Masters Creek fairway sweet spot which had good wells and some absolute flops. It lies between Glenmora, LA and somewhere to the west that has never been established. To the west along the Beauregard-Vernon parish lies what appears to be the downdip Sugartown and Chasmore fields. This is the play that broke CHK. But interesting enough, CHK was promoting it as a Tuscaloosa gas play at the time. Go figure.
