Chesapeake has filed for the first Haynesville Unit in T17N-R14W.  Past Haynesville Shale activity had bypassed this township due to its metro locale.  This had left a void in the middle of maps that was termed the "donut hole".  Now we just need to see if they intend to permit a Haynesville Shale well.

Les, I wonder where the well pad for it is going? Isn't that just east of Jewella and 70th St. We have a dab of property in section 22 of 17/14 which is near Comcast off of west 70th, so figured this would be just west of there.
KCM, yes - I will interested to see where Chesapeake will select a surface location.  Of course, they were the primary operator that tackled the development of the Barnett Shale within the metro Ft Worth area.
When we signed the 1st lease w/ CHK in sec. 22, they showed me a map where possible pad sites would be for that area. Those sites were on east and west sides of Jewella after you cross railroads on Jewella heading north
What donut hole are you talking about, RAS?
The obvious hole in 11N-12W (the "B" in Brushy Bayou) must arise from delays or incorrect postings on sonris.  That area is full of completions.
Henry, thanks for the post.  There are not holes in DeSoto Parish as the area is highly developed.  The Sonris maps are not sufficiently updated to give a correct picture.
Roy, my reference to "holes" would be larger than a single section and closer in size to an entire township.

Roy, the donut hole being referred to is from old discussions of a grid map that I posted in the first year or so of the HA Play tracking the townships that had existing drilling and production units.

The two donut holes in DeSoto Parish are the lignite mines.

One other area inside the city where CHK has stepped up leasing is near intersection of Jewella and 3132 near old South Park Mall area. CHK (I think it is Twin Cities) is approaching landowners. That tells me they have plans to drill there within next year

Does it really mean much if they are unitizing sections?

There are  sections that were unitized around the doughnut hole that were never drilled..

Mine is one of those....

The even permitted a well in the next section to me and let the permit expire..

I don't think I'd get too excited until the drilling crews shows up..

Good luck to all you folks in the "hole"!
