okay, it does show up as a link.

Good article, thanks Steve.  However I think it only a secret to those who want full reliance on renewables without any hydrocarbons.  Many have attempted to make this case, and I think it a good one, but with little seeming effect.  The most logical path seems to be the one most difficult to commit to from a political perspective.

Good article. I always laugh when I hear projections that promise big new benefits ... in about 15 years. Most of us believe anything is possible over a fifteen year timeline and it may be IF we committed to massive R&D and tax cuts to make it possible.

However, the political climate still is paralyzed between left and right and no one is recognizing that all of us need air conditioning and heat and reliable electricity. We need both nat gas and new types of batteries for reliable electricity.

My views on energy were shaped by the OPEC oil embargo of the early 70's. Anyone in their 60's recalls the overnight shift from gas stations that gave us free silverware for buying gasoline to long lines where people feared each other. I think several people were shot over gasoline back then. Imagine what could happen today if there was a real gasoline shortage today.

Ever since then I've wanted us to use less o&g ever since and also to be free of imported oil. I've waited almost 50 years for alternative energy sources to become viable, as they are now. We could ensure the energy security of this country for the future. This is a no-brainer to me.

i found 2 things very interesting in the article - it resulted from an academic study in Europe, and the new technology for the gas generators that are well suited for the teaming with wind and solar.

Now, we just need to get a supply of LNG storage tanks to fuel those standby generators filled with US LNG
